With a scent that was as divine as the lilies she grew…

The Home Stretch

Well, it has been far too long since I have updated. This semester has been a nightmare for me. My husband lost his job, and these classes have been kicking my butt to the extreme. The animals are doing well, and I would like to give a half-hearted congratulations to our President on his 100th day in office. I did not vote for you, and will probably not vote for you in 2012. My mother in law, Catholic as she is, thinks the man is God. It’s sad. My Democrat friends have shown me that they are informed, and respectful of my opinion, but I can’t even get that respect from my own in-laws. It’s frustrating. My black friends were bemused to hear from Janeane Garofalo that I was racist. Apparently some of them are also racist. It was a shocking blow to them.

I’m so glad that today is the last day of class. Now I can get back to talking politics on Warcraft (I’m a warlock, so I’m evil just like Republicans apparently all are).  I’d forgotten how therapeutic blogging can be. I really need to work this site back into my daily schedule.

Very nice sleeve. It’s quilted, and according to the tag, manufactured in Indonesia. It works well with my 12.1 inch laptop, and while it’s not the color I was hoping to get, it looks nice.

Education on Loan

Category: College

Well, I got my information on my student loan from the Government today. Bad news, I owe about $15k so far. Good news? The interest rate for this next year is dropping 3 percent. Yay! Of course, since I’m still attending, it’s only about 3 percent, but that’s much better than this past year’s 6 percent.

Only a couple of weeks until school starts back up. I bought my priority parking pass today. $72, but I think it’s worth it. I feel safer, and end the semester with far fewer dents on my car. Which is a definite positive, any way that you look at it.

Relaxation

Well, I am at last done with that dreaded Calculus. I passed, although not admirably, with a C. I could have done better, if not for the way the final was done. Eeek.

And Harry Reid is an idiot.

Summer Calculations

Category: College

Well, I’m trying to take Calculus again. I had to drop it this past spring because it was just to hectic. So here I am during the summer…finding vertical and horizontal asymptotes…Fun.

My mother broke her ankle on June 5th, so I’ve been filling in at the office until she’s well enough to come back. It keeps my gas tank filled, and I can do my homework. Plus, I do like being able to help out my family.

I am still whole-heartedly a math atheist.

Update on Boredom

Category: Married Life, Random

Not a lot going on here. Only thing that’s new is my parents new car, which is the same kind as my little Ford Focus (which I have fallen in love with, despite it not having all the features of my little silver civic), and the fact that I will be going to Seattle in August for a wedding. And I have about 3 weddings total to attend this summer. Should be interesting. I’ve got some cute dresses to wear, so it will be fun, as long as I don’t get sunburned like I did at Kyle’s wedding. We’ll probably just be flying up for the weekend, but I am looking forward to it, all the same. I’m hoping we have a layover in Chicago. I’ve been craving Chicago style pizza for the longest time!

On Mothers

Category: Uncategorized

Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother.

-Lin Yutang

Thou art thy mother’s glass, and she in thee Calls back the lovely April of her prime.

-William Shakespeare, Sonnets

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.

-Washington Irving

And here’s my favorite:
My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.
-Mark Twain (1835 - 1910)
